They're Growing!

Well, it's finally happened. I have given in to the apparently universal urge to blog! I thought I would keep you updated on some of the things going on in my backyard plot, list some resources I like, and give you a preview of my ever-present hare-brained gardening schemes. I started planting after our first meeting on April 22nd. I planted garlic bulbs, onion sets, seed potatoes, and various other seeds including leaf lettuce, broccoli, dill, and sugar snap peas. I'm delighted to report that everything except the potatoes and dill is up and looking great! Dill requires a little longer germination time, so I'm not worried that it isn't up yet. The potatoes, however, are a different story. I have a traditional panic attack about the potatoes every year when they are slow coming up. I tell my husband "They're dead. I think they all rotted in the ground. I'm pretty sure they're dead." He is a wise man, so he usually just nods sympathetically and waits until the potatoes invariably sprout to laugh at me.
